My Story
Hi,
Just so you know a little bit about me and what I’m about.
My background is entrenched in food, right from a small girl. I remember collecting the eggs from my Nan’s chickens, blackberrying around our Norfolk countryside, cockling on Heacham beach, picking samphire in Thornham and seeing all sorts of gorgeous delights always bubbling on the stove
Later on, my parents bought a pub in a village close to ours in Norfolk, Ringstead, which my father called The Gin Trap Inn, and my mother was the cook, so again, seeing great food all around started to rub off!
Once school finished, I ended up working on a hotel barge on the Canal de Bourgogne, in France, which offered French gastronomic food with great, local wines from the region and so the understanding of fresh, natural, whole food started
I went on to become a head chef in hotels and restaurants around the UK, then went back to France and opened my own restaurant, cooking everything from oysters to ribs of beef over the embers of the vinewood fire which burnt in the massive chimney in the kitchen
Latterly working with schools to transform their food from drab to fab, re-training staff and resourcing great quality food, offering healthier options for children
After 35 years of cooking, I decided a 180-degree career change was in order and I decided to retrain and qualify myself in all things wellness and health, so I could impart what I know to those who want to learn more
So, naturally, qualifying in holistic nutrition was my first port of call, then life coaching, psychotherapy, and massage therapy, even Reiki and reflexology too
All this learning led me to truly understand that our bodies and our brains need a holistic approach to be completely healthy and able to look forward to a fulfilled, illness-free future if we nourish ourselves holistically. It also led me, through my clients, along the path of those of you whose lives have been touched by autism and neurodivergence and to joining those dots nutritionally
I am passionate about passing on the knowledge I have acquired through my life experiences with food and how to use it to stay healthy and hopefully I can educate and empower the lives of the people who join me in my sessions - packed full of strategies and information to understand your body and your brain and what it needs and doesn’t need to be as healthy as possible
This is my one-woman crusade to empower people that self-care, fresh, whole food and simple cooking will and can transform the quality of your life holistically
Enjoy! Denise x
